Course Description
The CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services Skill Set will help you develop the foundation skills required to work effectively in the community services sector. Community workers provide services, support, activities, information and referral for those in need of assistance. They link people with appropriate services, groups, communities, and each other.
The course delivers six nationally recognised units of competency. Units successfully completed in this course will be credited if you decide to continue your study to obtain the CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services full qualification. Several units of competency in this skill set are aligned with the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support, making this skill set a valuable stepping stone for further study and career development.

Course Entry Requirements
All students are required to provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number which will be validated by the College. Qualification and/or Statements of Attainment cannot be issued without the USI number.
Outlined are the pre-requisites for student enrolment. Students must:
- be 15 years or older;
- participate in a course entry interview to determine their needs and assess suitability;
- have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills, for example, to read materials relevant to the course, participate in discussions and observations and apply numerical concepts such as in relation to time management. This will be tested through a LLN assessment as part of the course entry process. Students will need to achieve ACSF Level 2 for reading, writing, numeracy and oral communication to enter the course.

Course Participation Requirements
As a student studying in a face-to-face learning course, you'll need to attend the compulsory in-campus workshops as part of your training.
Students will be encouraged to undertake independent study and skills practice each
week. To assist, students will have access to:
- online learning and resources—24/7 access.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students who have completed internal or external training may be able to have these skills acknowledged through recognition of prior learning. This request should take place at the time of enrolment to enable completion of an RPL Application form and issue of the RPL Self-Assessment pack. Students must complete 6 units:
BSBWOR301 Organise personal work priorities and development
Learn how to manage tasks efficiently, set work goals, and develop your professional skills.
CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services
Understand how to interact effectively with clients and colleagues in health and community services settings.
CHCCOM001 Provide first point of contact
Develop essential frontline skills to greet clients, assess their needs, and provide referrals.
CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
Gain the cultural awareness and interpersonal skills needed to work with people from different backgrounds.
CHCCCS016 Respond to client needs
Learn how to identify client needs and provide appropriate support services.
HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care
Adhere to safe work practices to ensure their own health and safety, and that of others in work environments that involve caring directly for clients.
Qualification Awarded
After successfully completing this course, students will be provided with a statement of attainment in partial completion of the CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services which lists the units of competency successfully completed.
Units successfully completed in this skill set will be credited if you decide to continue your study to obtain the CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services full qualification.
