Student Support Officer

Community College Northern Inland Inc. (CCNI) is a not-for-profit registered training organisation (RTO) specialising in a range of nationally accredited adult education programs. The College is currently seeking suitable candidates for the position of Student Support Officer based in our Moree Campus.
Position Purpose
CCNI currently has an opportunity to join our team as a Student Support Officer. This part-time role is based in our Moree Campus four days per week.
The Student Support Officer provides frontline customer service, student support and administration of student enrolments and classes using our student management system. The Student Support Officer will, with the campus and wider CCNI teams, ensure that CCNI’s practices and behaviours comply with the Standards for RTO’s by providing students with quality outcomes through the five key phases of the student experience – Marketing and Recruitment, Enrolment, Support and Progression, Training and Assessment and, Completion.
Essential criteria
- Strong communication skills and commitment to customer service.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft 365 or similar cloud system including Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Excellent skills in email and file management.
- Experience using third-party software and apps such as student management systems, office software and social media platforms.
- Accurate data entry skills.
- Excellent planning skills with attention to detail and customer focus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Driver’s license and access to a vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
- Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
- Experience in a confidential environment and able to use good judgement (common sense).
- To be appointed to this role you must provide a current working with children check and national police clearance certificate.
Desirable criteria
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment.
- Business or administration qualifications.
- Understanding and experience of the vocational education and training sector.
General responsibilities
- Be the first point of contact and provide good customer service to visitors, students and trainers at all times whether by phone or face-to-face contact.
- Handle sensitive enquiries with tact and discretion.
- Perform clerical duties for the campus including; organising correspondence, file management, accurate data entry, ordering campus supplies.
- Monitor student training activities and progression through review of records (intake interviews, LLN assessments, class attendance and academic results) and help identify students who may be at risk.
- In consultation with the VET Manager, contact students who are at risk, or potentially at risk, and provide personalised support and advice including external referrals where required.
- Maintain a record of student enrolment, contacts and consultations in the student management system.
- Assist with training and event management on campus and provide day-to-day support to trainers, facilitators and visiting staff.
- Comply with CCNI policies and procedures including matters related to Work, Health and Safety, and Equal Opportunity.
- Other duties as required.
