Career Preparation Workshop

Course description Collapse

During this non-accredited training you'll learn how to improve your resume so that it will hit the target–from an employer’s point of view. Topics you'll explore include:

10 Seconds to impress
You have a 10-second opportunity to impress an employer or to ‘kit out’ your resume with key words that will be picked up by a computer software program in an even smaller amount of time.

The ketchup stain
Make sure you're aware of the ‘bloopers’ – some obvious and some not so obvious – that could handicap your efforts to make a good impression.

Key words in a digital age
Learn about the importance of key words – particularly in an era of digital applications and digital reviewing of applications by computer software.

Soft skills
Most people have heard about soft skills – but might not have spent much time actually thinking about what they are or their importance in securing a role. As many people have pointed out, qualifications and experience might get you the job interview, but it is probably soft skills that will land you the role.
