Woodworking for Beginners

Overview
This training program introduces learners to the basics of woodworking and the use of both hand and power tools.

Learning outcomes include:
  • a basic understanding of the pleasure of wood work projects, and how to use both hand and power tools. 
  • entry level skills for using both hand and power tools safely. 

Units of Competency
Students must complete the following non-accredited units:
  • CSO201812 Preparing for the Workplace
  • ​CSO202011 Identify workplace hazards
  • CSO202012 Workplace Personal Protective Equipment.

Course Delivery
This training will be delivered in the following ways:
  • students will attend practical face-to-face training sessions.
  • training sessions will be held one day each week over the 6  week course duration.  
  • students will also carry out some self-directed training over the 6  week course duration. 

Target Audience
The target participants for this course are:
  • Stay at home parents 
  • Long term unemployed looking at gaining basic skills 
  • Participants with woodworking projects 
  • Young people 
  • Home hobbyists.  

Prerequisites for Training
Outlined are the pre-requisites for student enrolment:
  • Age eligibility will be course specific (check course requirements);
  • Students must have a good command of English and good comprehension;
  • Students are required to provide a current email address for contact and communication.

There are no formal pre-requisites or entry requirements for this qualification.

Study Pathways
The further study pathways available to learners who undertake this non-accredited training include: 
  • CPC20120 Certificate II in Construction for anyone interested in a career in construction.

Funding
This training is subsidised by the NSW Government. Eligibility rules apply.
