HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting

Enrol in this course to learn how to recognise and respond to an emergency situation‚ assessing the casualty and the need for a first aid response, managing immediate hazards to the health and safety of those present and seeking assistance from emergency response services.

This training may contribute towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011).

First aiders should attend training on a regular basis to refresh their first aid knowledge and skills and to confirm their competence to provide first aid. 

HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation expires one (1) year from the date of attainment.
HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support expires three (3) years from the date of attainment.
HLTAID011 Provide first aid expires three (3) years from the date of attainment.
HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting expires three (3) years from the date of attainment.

Who is this course for? Expand

This training applies to:
  • people required to provide CPR and/or first aid in a range of situations, including community, education and care settings and workplace settings;
  • people seeking to gain the skills and knowledge to provide CPR and first aid, including parents, volunteers, existing workers and members of the public;
  • educators and support staff working or wishing to work within and education and care setting.

Prerequisites
All students must be able to meet the requirements to:
  • Perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for at least 5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations (100-120 compressions per minute) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
  • Perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR for at least 5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations (100-120 compressions per minute) on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface.
  • Participants will need to bring a clean towel to kneel upon for the floor work.
