What Our Students Said

Studying the Certificate III in Individual Support has been an amazing experience. I’ve always enjoyed caring for others, especially while looking after my nan, and this course helped me turn that passion into a real career path.

Travelling each week for class from Guyra and completing my placement at Naroo Hostel, Warialda really pushed me out of my comfort zone, but in the best way. I’m normally very shy, yet I met so many new people and gained confidence I didn’t know I had.

My trainer, Pauline, was absolutely incredible. She made everything easy to understand and created such a comfortable environment. She always reminded us that no question is a silly question, and that support meant so much to me.

There were times when I felt overwhelmed—especially with assignments—but I kept going and I’m so proud that I finished. I now feel confident stepping into aged care or disability support, and I’m excited to keep learning on the job.

This qualification has helped me believe in myself and opened the door to so many future opportunities. I would 100% recommend this course to anyone thinking about a career in care.

My advice is simple: Do it. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

The Community College in Gunnedah is the place to go for anything you want to study.

I've personally studied at TAFE, online, and at Community College and I'd pick the College every time.

Online feels lonely and you miss so much because there's no one to talk to or bounce ideas off. And if you get stuck you've got to book in a time to chat with someone. As great as TAFE is I felt it moved so fast and getting through the units was more important than learning the information.

Community College takes you through the information, its content, conversations to learn with real examples while the teacher helps keep the class on track to get through the units on time.

I've never felt like my intelligence has been questioned, I've never been made to feel bad for asking questions or not knowing something.

The teachers are great, and the reception staff are amazing. Everyone at the college genuinely cares about you and your education.

The amount of support I've had is next level—I'm diagnosed ADHD and dyslexic, and in the college, education setting I've had no issues. Anything they can do for you they will.

I've never liked school, but every week I find myself excited to attend.
