BSB20120 Certificate II in Workplace Skills - Overview

Prepare for your career by developing the soft skills that are required across all industries and sectors when you enrol in this hands-on course that offers a change of pace from traditional learning.

The nationally accredited BSB20120 Certificate II in Workplace Skills is ideal for people who want to learn basic skills in preparation for employment. This is a very practical course where student learning is supported by engagement with local industry. Students will visit real businesses in a variety of industries and listen to industry speakers in order to get a taste of entry level jobs in different sectors.

Nationally Recognised TrainingThis qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of entry-level Business Services job roles.

This qualification also reflects the role of individuals who have not yet entered the workforce, and are developing the necessary skills in preparation for work.

These individuals carry out a range of basic procedural, clerical, administrative or operational tasks that require self-management and technology skills. They perform a range of mainly routine tasks using limited practical skills and fundamental operational knowledge in a defined context. Individuals in these roles generally work under direct supervision.

Units of Competency Expand

To receive this qualification, students must complete 5 core units and 5 elective units (10 units in total). The 5 elective units will be chosen to align with industry requirements.

BSBOPS201 Work effectively in business environments
BSBPEF202 Plan and apply time management
BSBSUS211 Participate in sustainable work practices
BSBWHS211 Contribute to the health and safety of self and others

Unit selection will be at the discretion of the College—please contact your nearest campus to find out which units of competency will be offered.

Recognition of Prior Learning Expand

Students who have completed internal or external training may be able to have these skills acknowledged through recognition of prior learning. This request should take place at the time of enrolment to enable completion of an RPL Application form and issue of the RPL Self-Assessment pack. Please call 1800 952 264 for more information about the RPL process.

Prerequisites for Training Expand

Outlined are the prerequisites for student enrolment.

Students must:

  • be 16 years or older;
  • participate in a course entry interview to determine their needs and assess suitability;
  • provide a current email address for contact and communication;
  • provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number which will be validated by the College. Qualification and/or Statements of Attainment cannot be issued without the USI number.

The specific course entry requirements are:

  • There are no formal prerequisites or entry requirements however students will require language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills to meet industry documentation requirements. Student's LLN skills will be assessed at a scheduled pre-enrolment interview. Students who require additional LLN support to successfully undertake the study program may be given assistance at a local level.
Qualification Awarded Expand

After successfully completing this course, students will be eligible to receive the nationally endorsed BSB20120 Certificate II in Workplace Skills.

The BSB20120 Certificate II in Workplace Skills can lead to a career as a:
