CHC42015 Certificate IV in Community Services
This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who design and deliver person-centred services to individuals and/or groups. Workers may provide support, advocacy or interventions to individual clients, groups or communities across a range of services.
At this level, workers may be autonomous with limited responsibility within established parameters and may be required to supervise and lead other works in projects or teams. Work may take place in a range of community services, case workers or case management contexts.
In practice community workers provide services, support, activities, information and referral for those in need of assistance. They link people with appropriate services, groups, communities, and each other.
Units of Competency
To receive this qualification, students must complete 7 core units and 8 elective units (for a total of 15 units).
Unit selection will be at the discretion of the College—please contact your nearest campus to find out which units of competency will be offered. Units will be timetabled to ensure students meet the requirements of planned participation in work placement.
Course Delivery
This course will be delivered via blended learning. Blended learning combines web-based online learning with traditional face-to-face instruction. The face-to-face workshops and virtual class sessions work together to strengthen overall learning.
- Course material for each unit is presented during a full-day face-to-face workshop that will be scheduled approximately every 3 weeks at base camp¹. Students also work through supporting activities during the workshops and may be assessed on any practical component of their training.
- Follow-up virtual classroom sessions held twice-weekly are used to discuss and explore topics related to the learning with the goal to increase understanding, to problem-solve and work through trainer-led tutorials. Zoom in from your chosen location.
