Sharna Aitken Recognised Nationally at the Community Education Australia Awards
CCNI is celebrating the outstanding achievements of Sharna Aitken, a learner from our Warialda Campus, who was honoured at the 2025 Community Education Australia (CEA) Awards held at the Marriot Hotel in Sydney on Tuesday 25th November.
Sharna was named as one of two finalists awarded Highly Commended Student of the Year on the night—an exceptional result on the national stage.
Sharna will complete her studies in the Certificate III in Individual Support at Warialda Campus in mid-December. Representing one of CCNI’s smallest campuses, Sharna’s achievement highlights the talent, determination and potential of learners across the Northern Inland region. Her dedication to her studies, paired with the support of her trainers and campus staff, has made her a standout representative for both Warialda and the broader CCNI community.
CEO Mel Squires, who attended the Awards ceremony alongside Sharna, said the national recognition reflects both Sharna’s commitment and the strength of community education in rural NSW.
“To see one of our local learners recognised nationally is incredibly special. I was honoured to accompany Sharna to the ceremony and witness the pride she carried in representing all seven of our campuses and the communities we serve.”
Sharna’s success shines a light on the pathways and opportunities available through community-based vocational education and training, particularly for learners in smaller towns.
CCNI congratulates Sharna on her achievements and extends sincere appreciation to the trainers, staff, organisations and community members who supported her journey. Her recognition is a testament to what regional learners can accomplish with the right support, encouragement and opportunity.
